BiographyBorn in China in 1948, Hung Liu was an internationally recognized artist who lived and worked in Oakland. Liu also spent time in Albuquerque during numerous Tamarind residencies. Her work often utilizes historical Chinese photographs as source material for paintings, reimagining them in the present moment. The paintings are subjected to washes and drips that dissolve parts of the image, suggesting the erosion of memory and the passage of time.
