BiographyPaula Wilson lives and works in Carizozo, New Mexico. She relocated from Brooklyn in 2007 with her partner Mike Lagg, a woodworker and sculptor, and cofounded an artist residency called Carizozo AIR. They also started MoMAZoZo, an arts organization that serves their community.

Wilson is known as a mixed media artist who utilizes a wide variety of techniques to create her work. Her work ranges from large scale installations and sculptures, to paintings and works on paper. Her work is figurative and focuses on the body and self-portraiture, she refers to her work as "inward-looking".

Originally from Chicago, Wilson was born in Illinois in 1975. She received her bachelor or fine arts from Washington University in 1998 and her master of fine arts from Columbia University in 2005. She has shown her work extensively across the United States in solo and group exhibitions and art fairs. Wilson also has been featured in several publications and has held many visiting lecturer and visiting artist positions.
