DescriptionAlacena or cupboard with pintle hinges, early 19th century, made of wood and house paint. Painted wooden openwork simulates turned wood posts and lightning elements, and the lower panels may represent butterflies. From Chical, near Isleta.Hand-painted and carved early 19th century wooden alacena with pintle hinges from the Pueblo fo Isleta (presumably). The interior has three unfinished shelfs secured inside the adobe wall. The three panel double doors have evidence of blue and burgundy paint (almost completely chipped and faded), openwork on the top two panels and carved third panel, and a knob-like handle. The alacena was installed inside the adobe wall during construction of the Master Bedroom.
