DescriptionThe left rear of a Scenic Airways Inc. Ford AT-B Tri-motor, C 5493, on the runway of the Albuquerque Airport in Albuquerque, New Mexico. A large crowd of people are gathered around the aircraft. A man stands on the wing and re-fuels the plane. Handwriting on the border of the photo reads, "Scenic Airways Tri-Motor Ford 1928".
A typed caption attached to the photograph reads, "First tri-motor or Tin Goose to arrive in Albuquerque, NM. The year was 1928 and it carried Mrs. Kathryn Stinson, Mrs. Mike Otero of Santa Fe, NM, Mr. E. O. Emblem of Santa Fe. Pilot was Lemar Nelson and ship was on the way to the Grand Canyon to join a fleet of the Scenic Airways, Inc. It also carried Franklin D. Roosevelt and James L. Breese Jr. of Santa Fe, NM who was engineering officer of the first trans- Atlantic flight of the NC 4 in 1919. The ship landed June 7th, 1929. About 2000 people were out to greet the new tri-motored 10 passenger Ford." "Log - Lemar Nelson, Ford TM 6/12/28, NC 9665"
