Not on viewKnown for her technical skills in both jewelry making and photography, Dorothy Benrimo was among an influential group of female modern artists who made their home in Taos, New Mexico. The stylized surrealist designs on this silver cuff represent Benrimo's succinct approach to modernism, which was greatly influenced by the dream-like constructs of surrealism, which sought to tap into the subconscious nature of the human mind. Surrealism was just one of the many facets of modernism embraced by artists practicing in Northern New Mexico in the early 1950s.
