DescriptionThis oval campaign pin has a beige background and green text with a mountainous design. The name "JIM / BACA" features on the left side with "LAND / COMMISSIONER" with the second word in white cutting into a green mountain range on the right. Below this is the word "DEMOCRAT" in smaller text above the manufacturer sign. Jim Baca (born September 6, 1945) was a democratic politician who served twice as New Mexico Commissioner of Public Lands from 1983 to 1987 and from 1991 to 1993 and as the twenty-seventh mayor of Albuquerque from 1997 to 2001. For this election in 1991, Baca was elected State Land Commissioner with 62 percent of the vote statewide. In that race, he ran as an environmentalist, pledging to reform grazing on state land.
