DescriptionSeven people, five men and two women, stand behind a counter along the left wall and toward the back corner of Champion Grocery at 624 West Tijeras Avenue in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Three wooden service counters are in the store. On top of the counters are glass display cases, a large scale, and rolls of wrapping paper for groceries. Shelves of canned goods are along the left wall. Advertisements for goods are on the back wall. There are bare light bulbs hanging from the ceiling along the center aisle of the store. Three of the men are wearing long-sleeved shirts with ties and vests, one man wears a blazer and a hat with his suit. The fifth man is wearing a striped long-sleeved shirt. The women are wearing long-sleeved blouses with long skirts. All the people are looking toward the camera. A handwritten annotation along the bottom of the frame reads, "Mr. Matteucci Store Old Town". [The Matteucci Family has confirmed the annotation is incorrect and this image shows Champion Grocery.]
