DescriptionThis campaign button was produced for Ronald Reagan's 1984 bid for the United States Presidency, along with his running mate, George H. W. Bush. Reagan, who was elected the 40th president in 1980, won a second term in a landslide victory in 1984. A former actor and governor of California, Reagan’s presidency was defined by his conservative policies, a strong anti-communist stance, and significant economic reforms, including tax cuts and deregulation. His administration is also remembered for its role in the Cold War, particularly for increasing military spending and the strategic defense initiative. Reagan left office in 1989, having reshaped the political landscape of the 1980s and established a lasting legacy in American politics. The button is mostly white, with a thin blue line running around the edge. There is a line of black text in the center of the button that reads "REAGAN."On View
