DescriptionThis small-sized comic book illustrates Felix the Cat, the black-and-white cat character created by Otto Messmer (1892-1983), standing in front of a colorful four-panel illustration of Felix in various situations with different characters on the front cover. The top of the front cover reads "Felix the / Cat" in red, bold, blocky lettering. The bottom of the cover includes a thin black horizontal stripe with the words "All Picture Comics" in white lettering. The backside of the comic book is a banana-yellow color and reads, "Your Favorite Characters / in Better Little Books" in black lettering, followed by a bullet-pointed list of popular children's cartoon characters, reading; "Dick Tracy / Mickey Mouse / Donald Duck / Blondie, Little Orphan Annie / The Lone Ranger / Tarzan / Red Ryder", and "Captain Midnight". Big Little Books made small (typically 3.5 in. x 4.5 in.) books featuring popular children's cartoon characters and classic children's literature. Showcasing engaging illustrations, the books included popular mid-to-late twentieth-century characters such as Tom and Jerry, Bugs Bunny, The Lone Ranger, Tarzan, Blondie, Felix the Cat, Popeye, and many others. The pages of this comic book showcase black printed illustrations of the interactions and adventures of Felix the Cat with his mischievous yet kind hearted personality. On View
