DescriptionThis metal campaign button features a white base color with bold blue and red elements. At the top, it boldly states "I'M A BOOSTER / FOR" in large red lettering. The middle showcases "JOE M. MONTOYA" in prominent blue letters, with "FOR / U. S. SENATOR" also in large red lettering. The bottom portion of the campaign button showcases a dark blue ribbon attached to a brass bell. Joseph M. Montoya (1915-1978), an influential figure in New Mexico politics, served as the lieutenant governor from 1947 to 1951 and again from 1955 to 1957. He then held a seat in the House of Representatives for eight years (1957-1964) before dedicating fourteen years to the U.S. Senate (1964-1977). Montoya made a lasting impact on New Mexico during his nearly forty years in public service through his strong advocacy for education, including his support for the Bilingual Act of 1968. He prioritized constituent service and worked tirelessly to secure funding for social and defense programs within the state. On View
