DescriptionThis metal campaign button features an off-white base color. The text reads, "Moderation in the pursuit of vice is no virtue," in an eye-catching, bold, red lettering. The pin is from U.S. Senator Barry Goldwater's (1909-1998) campaign in 1964, in which he ran for president as the Republican Party nominee, but facing defeat to Democratic opponent Lyndon B. Johnson (1908-1973). Goldwater had a significant statewide and national influence through his effort to emphasize state's rights.
