DescriptionThis miniature cast-iron sewing machine is painted black with decorative gold and orange scrollwork across the body and base. A portrait of a curly-haired child in soft peach tones decorates one side, suggesting who it intended to use the toy. A red decal near the base features branding details, and the front face is inscribed with “LINDSTROM / MADE IN U.S.A. / PATENTED / 1,809,192.” The piece has a hand-crank wheel mechanism and visible wear along the edges, consistent with frequent handling. Manufactured by Lindstrom Tool & Toy Company in Bridgeport, Connecticut, this toy sewing machine is representative of the early 20th-century trend of producing miniature versions of adult appliances. These toys served both as playthings and as educational tools, preparing girls for domestic roles and sewing proficiency. On View
