DescriptionThis plastic desk lamp originates from 1970, and appears to be in the category of a spring-balanced desk lamp, popular throughout the twentieth century due to the adjustability in both homes and professional spaces. The base portion of the lamp is circular and slightly raised. A circular, white joint with silver springs on each side connects the base to the central arm portion of the lamp, with two more of these joints being visible; one in the center, and the other connecting to the head, lamp portion of the object. The lampshade is domed with a top portion that slightly protrudes upwards and has a flattened top section. The outer rim is white, as is the interior, which holds the rounded light bulb in the center. A rectangular label is placed on one side of the interior, instructing the user to use only a 60-watt bulb. A black wire appears to be threaded through the body of the lamp, connected at the top, head portion, and ends in a plug. Upon inspection of the side of the lamp, an oval label is visible on the bottom circular joint, showcasing that the lamp is union-made, specifically the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers labor union, founded in 1891.On View
