DescriptionThis object is a bone rongeur used to gouge out and remove bone tissue during surgical operations. The object has plier-like handles with a thin, bent strip of metal between to act as a spring and hold the object in an open orientation. The jaws of the object are slightly curved with pointed tips and have sharp blades between them. "V. MUELLER & Co." is stamped on one of the shanks below the hinge of the object. Mild levels of corrosion are visible inside the manufacturer's mark.
