DescriptionThis German bisque-headed doll features a delicately molded face with painted features, open mouth with teeth, and inset glass eyes. Her blonde mohair wig frames her porcelain face beneath a gathered brown tweed dress and deep purple blouse with matching sash. Beneath the dress are lace-trimmed undergarments and black fabric stockings, typical of dolls designed to reflect middle-class European fashion of the late-19th century. Such dolls were treasured by children and collectors alike and often passed down through generations.
