DescriptionThis family of nesting dolls was produced in 1933. Also known as Matryoshka dolls, these figures are a staple of Russian culture, often depicting traditional folktales or culturally significant characters. These types of dolls are famous for their rounded shape and for the way each smaller doll fits inside the larger ones. This particular set features three male figures and two female figures. The clothing is hand-painted onto the wooden dolls: the men wear traditional suits with a distinctive belt or sash around the waist, while the women are dressed in traditional Russian babushkas. These dolls offer a glimpse into the rich and diverse culture of Russia, showcasing the beauty of handmade folk art.On View
