DescriptionA photograph of a photograph depicting the Gen. J.A. Williamson steam locomotive of the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad is stopped in front of the armory building at South First Street in New Town Albuquerque, New Mexico. A young man sits behind the controls of the locomotive and props his elbow on the windowsill and leans his torso out. There are tassels dangling out of the locomotive window under his elbow. Two more men stand on the ground outside the train car and lean against it. One wears a white button-down, suspenders, and dark trousers with a hat. The last man wears a three-piece suit with a bow tie and bowler hat and has a mustache. There are antlers mounted to the front of the engine. This was typical of engineers to do at the time and was a type of "signatures.” This photo is thought to document one of the first trains to ever enter Albuquerque.
