DescriptionLikely a Carson colcha with images of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Virgin of Guadalupe, on a beige ground with red and brown border. Colcha done on plain weave sabanilla, beige 1-ply Z spun wool warp & weft, embroidery is natural 1-ply, Z-twist beige, brown & coyote; also peach & yellow & blue 1-ply Z-twist aniline-dyed, no seam, doubled & hemmed w/ attached fringe (peach 1Z, loosely woven.) Four Guadalupes in the corners with central image flanked on the sides by candelabras and on the top & bottom by crosses. Central Guadalupe bordered by vine and line motifs. Corner Guadalupes bordered by vine motifs only. Colcha has brown border. Muslin hanging strip sewn to the reverse along the top edge.On View
