DescriptionThe storefront of Frank & Eakin Wholesale Liquors and Cigars located at 111 South First Street in New Town, Albuquerque, New Mexico. The shop is located in a two-story building with the ground floor composed of storefront windows. The second floor has four windows with blinds and the building has a unique decorative face. There are advertisements in the display windows and in the window above the entrance it reads, "111." A group of nine men stand on the sidewalk outside the business facing the camera. They wear slack suits, blower hats and fedoras, starched white collars and pocket watch chains. The street in front of the building is dirt. There are additional shops on either side of Frank & Eakin Wholesale Liquors. At the viewer’s left is W.F. Myers Lodging. New Town was one of the first Anglo settlements on Tiwa land in what is now Albuquerque, established about two miles east of Albuquerque's first Hispanic city center (contemporary Old Town). New Town spanned the railyards district and a few blocks west in Albuquerque's downtown.
Emulsion deterioration is occurring on the glass plate creating color distortion.
