DescriptionTwo black and white photographs, one inset atop the other, of a lake and a smoking volcano. The bottom photo is larger and centered to the lower left of the mounting. It depicts a conical, rocky formation rising out of a lake in the foreground of the photo. A steady stream of white smoke rises from the top and disperses upwards and to the left, leaving the frame in the center of the photo. The lake occupies the central part of the frame, with rocks jutting out of the water in the center-right. From left, two overlapping mountains slope toward the middle of the image. The second photo overlaps the first in the top right, blocking the upper corner of the first photo. It depicts a small, dark volcano in the background with a large plume of greyish smoke rising and drifting to the left. A large rocky bluff dominates the left foreground. The caption of this photo says '50- NAPOLI - IL CONETTO NELL' INTERNO DEL CRATERE." A caption at top reads, "Mono Lake California, 1976."On View
