DescriptionThis early cash register, manufactured by the National Cash Register Company in 1920, reflects a pivotal moment in the evolution of business technology. Founded in 1884 by John H. Patterson, the company emerged as a key force in advancing American technological innovation, with Patterson recognized for developing and commercializing groundbreaking mechanical and business systems. The National Cash Register Company continued to play a significant role in technological progress well into the mid-20th century, notably acquiring the Computer Research Corporation in 1952 to expand its presence in the emerging field of computing. Crafted with a wooden exterior, this register features a small glass window at the top to display transaction information, a marble slab positioned below a set of price-labeled buttons, and a drawer beneath the slab designed for storing change. On View
