Description8. A favorite spot with tourists in Albuquerque is famous "Old Town," the original townsite. The Plaza has been a crossroads since it was founded in 1706. Merchants, soldiers, Indians, explorers, & pioneers have paused for food & drink in this shady old world setting. Shops surround the Plaza today. 9. Entrance to the Hacienda! The original Albuquerque continues to be a fascinating center of Spanish colonial architecture, time-honored folk-ways, art, & handicraft shops.
10. Visa [as seen in slides] waiting for us in the entrance to La Placita! The pleasant, comfortable quiet of this room is quite a contrast to present day Albuquerque, known as the nuclear capital of the U.S. Much of the nation's nuclear research program is conducted or supervised here.
