DescriptionA brooch consisting of a circular yellow gold frame in three pieces: a solid sheet back, a center bezel with a lip on the back, and a top bezel-set glass with side frame. The back and top pieces insert into the center bezel. A border consisting of overlapping swirls with a centered stylized fleur-de-lis motif is soldered around the base of the center bezel. A hand-painted portrait over porcelain (measuring 2.1 cm) is featured in the brooch. The subject of the portrait is a woman; her hairstyle indicates that the portrait dates to the mid-1910s.
