DescriptionThis map depicts Hamburg in Germany through a city grid, drainage, vegetation, and surrounding countryside as far south as Lüneburg. The Elbe River runs through the city. The map is colored in light pink, green, and yellow. Inside a thin pink box across the top of the map is the title. Below this, along the left end, there is a scale and a map key. Below the title on the right end, there is an untitled inset map of Hamburg and environs, enframed in a banner held up by cherubs. Across the bottom of the page, there is a black and white illustration of the city's riverfront with many ships in the foreground. In the lower left corner, there is an illustration of a queen holding a staff topped with the German imperial eagles. She is sitting on a throne of barrels and bundles of trade goods. A musician stands next to her, and Mercury or Hermes is hovering over her. He is wearing a winged helmet and holding a caduceus. In the right corner of the illustration, there is an image of Athena or Minerva wearing a helmet and holding a spear and shield.
