DescriptionPolitical poster campaigning for Deb Haaland to be voted into Congress with a white background and dark turquoise text. There is a yellow Zia symbol which is representative of the sun, and is a solid circle with four lines, or rays, emanating from each of the four main sides of the circle. Printed over the Zia symbol, it says, "DEB/HAALAND/DEMOCRAT FOR CONGRESS." Near the bottom of the poster it says, "FOR CONGRESS./FOR[horizontal line]." Handwritten in marker on this horizontal line, is "NEW MEXICO." In an outlined box below this, it says, "Paid for by Deb for Congress. Donna Tillman, Treasurer./Printed by Don Mickey Designs, Inc." There is white duct tape folded over the top of the poster and clear packing tape folded along the bottom edge.Haaland won the election to represent New Mexico’s 1st District in the U.S. Congress. She is a member of the Pueblo of Laguna and a 35th generation New Mexican. After running for New Mexico Lieutenant Governor in 2014, Secretary Haaland became the first Native American woman to be elected to lead a State Party. She is one of the first Native American women to serve in Congress. In Congress, she focused on environmental justice, climate change, missing and murdered indigenous women, and family-friendly policies.
