Veloy Vigil
1931 Greeley, Colorado - 1997 Taos, New Mexico
Creating his paintings after work and on the weekends, he sold them at park shows and then in the early 1970’s he acquired gallery representation in Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona. Once the income from those sales outpaced his salary he quit and devoted his energies full time to his art.
Recognized as a leader in the art movement of the 1970’s and 80’s known as “Contemporary Southwest Art”, Veloy received editorial coverage in such publications as: Southwest Art Magazine, The Santa Fean Magazine, Taos Magazine, American West Magazine and other publications.
His work is included in both public and private art collections such as Springfield Art Museum, Millicent Rogers Museum, Martin-Murrieta Corp., Ralph Lauren, Ontario Museum and New Mexico Capitol Collection among others.
