Albuquerque, New Mexico, 1939 - 1999
BiographyPioneer Wear specializes in Western clothing; their shop was located at 1718 Yale Boulevard, Northeast, Albuquerque New Mexico. Pioneer Wear was started by Leopold Seligman in 1939, at 701 Copper NW. After Leopold Seligman died in 1946, his wife, Hanni Seligman, ran it with her two sons, John, and Rudy. Rudy passed away in 1961 and John bought his shares of the company. After Mrs. Seligman passed in 1974, John bought her ownership as well and became president of the company. Owner Don Tampow closed Pioneer Wear in 1999; one year later, he donated his entire inventory of 16,000 garments to the victims of the Cerro Grande Fire in Los Alamos.
