BiographyJames Letherer, more commonly known as Jim, is most well known for his work during the civil rights movement as an activist. Letherer walked the entirety of the march from Selma to Montgomery on crutches due to having his right leg amputated as child from cancer. In 1966 he also participated in the March Against Fear. Letherer was also heavily involved in campaigns for cancer research and was involved in a march for cancer research in 1984. Outside of his activist work he also worked as a settlement house worker.
