BiographyCharles Amand-Durand (1831 - 1905) was the pioneer in France of making and publishing photogravure (héliogravure) reproductions of engravings and etchings. His main series of facsimiles of old master prints began in 1869, was typically published in portfolios with accompanying text by G.Duplessis. His prints have a stamp in red on the verso given the classification of Lugt 2934.
