BiographyCarol Friedman is known for her photographs of jazz, soul, and classical recording artists. These photographs have received numberous awards and been on the cover hof hundreds of albums and CDs. She began her career in the music industry in 1988 as creative director for Elektra Entertainment, then served in the early and mid-nineties as art director and chief photographer for Blue Note Records and as vice president and creative director for Motown. In 1990, she founded Dominick Films and produced and directed music videos for the recording artists whom she photographed. At that time, she also began to film singer/ composer Abbey Lincoln for a feature-length documentary on her life and work. She is the author of The Jazz Pictures, the acclaimed retrospective of her portraits of jazz artists, and author and producer of the award-winning Nicky the Jazz Cat series of books and music for children.
