BiographyAmerican sportscaster who was one of the first to use a candid, editorial style with the play-by-play broadcasting format that is used by much of the sportscasting industry today. Helped begin CBS as the studio director of the flagship station WABC in New York City. He announced for sports broadcasts but also news, talk shows, and special events on CBS. He is a member of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Hall of Fame and the American Sportscasters Association Hall of Fame as well as a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
