A typed caption on the back of the photograph reads, "Like a serpent twisting toward the protection of the mountains, the highway north of Taos, New Mexico, provides a never-ending variety of scenery to the traveler. This photo was taken on Highway 64, between Taos and Eagle Nest, New Mexico, an area seldom visited by the casual tourist."
