DescriptionPortrait of Padre Antonio José Martínez of Taos, where he was the pastor of the Taos Parish. The image is on a silver-plated copper plate and housed in a case of wood covered with leatherette, including a brass mat and original protective cover glass. The brass mat in the case has a simple oval shape. During the annexation by the United States, Padre Martinez became president of the convention of nineteen delegates assembled to prepare a territorial plan of government which would make the state a part of the United States of America.On View
