DescriptionThis circular, silver flask reads "Al Malaikah" on the top portion, referring to the Al Malaikah Shriners, now recognized as Shriners International, an organization established in the late nineteenth century. Below this, the Shriner insignia is visible in the form of an emblem, showcasing a sword or scimitar, a half-crescent moon, and a five-pointed star. "Los Angeles" is read below this, followed by an elaborate and detailed engraving of a scene of a camel being led by a man, while two pyramids and the setting sun comprise the background. Intricate depictions of foliage and trees are illustrated, serving as a frame around the flask's perimeter. The bottom portion of the flask reads "May 4th to 11th / 1912", referring to its national convention held during this time in Los Angeles. The top segment of the flask is composed of a small, semi cylindrical form, most likely twisting off to reveal the drinking aperture.
