DescriptionSocorro Black-on-white storage jar, horizontal lugs or strap handles, hatched and solid geometric design, globular body. Pueblo II-early Pueblo III, possibly late Pueblo I.Rio Grande White Ware was made from Taos to San Marcial, NM. DS 9/2011.
Socorro Black-on-white (AD 1050–1300) is characterized by carefully prepared designs using deep black, finely crazed mineral paint on a thin slip. The designs included combinations of solid elements and hatched lines. Bowls were painted on the interiors only (Hawley 1950:36; Wilson 2005:25).
