DescriptionThis metal pin or button features a white base color and a brown ink-printed image of Billy the Kid (1859-1881) in the center. The top portion of the pin reads "Billy the Kid's Boyhood Home" in large, brown lettering, with a location "Silver City, / New Mexico" (left) and dates "1873-1875" (right) pictured on either side of the illustration in the center. Below is the phrase " 'Cabin Raising' July 2003" in the same large, brown lettering. William Henry McCarty, more widely known as Billy the Kid, was an American outlaw during the nineteenth century and an infamous gunfighter who played a role in the Lincoln County War on New Mexico Territory. This pin highlights Billy the Kid's former cabin in Silvercity, NM, residing in it from 1873 to 1875. Contributing significantly to New Mexico, Billy the Kid impacted historical sights, symbolizing frontier justice and shaping the state's history.
