DescriptionThis late nineteenth-century telephone is a rectangular, wooden box, serving as the base. The box opens up on one side, using two metal hinges. Upon opening, the interior includes a variety of thin wiring and other electrical components. A small visual diagram of the inner workings is displayed on the interior side of the door. Observing the front-facing side of the box showcases a rounded speaker portion in the upper center. Two rounded portions sit directly above it, accompanied by the "phone" component of the device attached to one side of the box with a metal holder and cord. The other side of the box also features what appears to be a hand crank.
