DescriptionRailyard workers in Albuquerque, New Mexico, dismantle stock cars and salvage parts for other uses. One worker carries a metal piece of the car while walking across the base of the stock car while two others are working on the ground along the tracks. There are other cars partially taken apart along the left.

A typed note on the back of the photo reads, "Dismantling an old stock car. Photo shows workmen at Albuquerque wrecking a stock car that can no longer be used. Bolts are cut with torches and the wooden part is rolled to the side where it is torn down and later burned. All metal that is good is saved and used to rebuild cars that can be repaired. The car being dismantled is #55701 and was built in 1907 by the American Car and Foundry Company at a cost of $1,542.73."
