DescriptionA studio portrait of two men holding rifles in front of a hand-painted backdrop at the Cobb Studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico. A dog named Nero is lying on a box prop in the front left of the frame. One of the men is Peter Isherwood. Dirt, grass, and yucca plants are spread across the floor of the studio area. Nero, a light colored Spaniel with large dark spots, is on an elevated box that is covered with faux grass at the lower left of the frame. The dog is laying in right profile, with his head elevated and facing right. Directly behind Nero, a man is seated with his right leg elevated slightly. He holds his rifle in his hands and gently rests the barrel in his left hand, propped on his elevated knee. He wears dark pants, a light jacket, a bow tie and a light-colored brimmed hat. He has a mustache. To the right, in center frame, is a second man, seated at a height between the dog and the other man. He is wearing a dark jacket, dark pants, and dark knee-high leather boots. He is wearing a light-colored hat and has a bushy mustache. He holds his rifle in both hands, with his right hand on the stock and left hand on the barrel, resting on his left knee. Both men and the dog are looking toward the right of the frame.
