DescriptionThis TEXACO horse-drawn truck coin bank, constructed of metal and plastic, showcases a cylindrical, silver tanker on wheels carried by two black horses. The words "The Texas Company. / Petroleum and its Products" are in large black lettering within a red-framed rectangle on either side of the tanker. TEXACO began during the emergence of the twentieth century and was founded by Joseph S. Cullinan (1860-1937), Lewis Henry Lapham (1858-1934), and Arnold Schlaet (1859-1946). Merging with the Chevron energy company in 2001 and renamed ChevronTexaco, the company is currently an ancillary of the larger Chevron company. It has built a legacy of pioneering in both commercial global oil exploration and environmentally disastrous exploitation as result of its contribution to human rights violations and global pollution. Each side also encompasses the TEXACO logo: a small, red star with a green letter "T" in the corner of the tanker and the words "Crystalite Kerosene" on either side of the back portion of the tanker. When viewed from the top, a small coin slot is visible on the roof of the tanker, while the bottom includes a silver key inside the keyhole.
