DescriptionThis rectangular desk, constructed of wood, brass, and synthetic leather, likely naugahyde, originates from the mid-twentieth century, from the Franciscan Furniture Company, a local, family-owned business from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Just beneath the flat top surface is a top drawer, appearing to have light-colored naugahyde attached to the front panel, accompanied by small, circular brass embellishments bordering its frame. There are two dark rectangular handles on either side of the drawer's front panel. Either side encompasses flat vertical supports and a thinner, horizontal lower back support. Small wooden rectangles are visible on all four bottom corners of the desk, likely added for additional support. Upon opening the drawer, "Famous Franciscan Furniture / Made in Albuquerque" is read on one of the interior panels in capital black lettering. The exterior panel of the drawer depicts two small circular brass parts, likely helping to keep the panel in tact.
