DescriptionOne of a set of urethral sounds, also called dilators, used to enter the bladder through the urethra. The deep curves of the dilator indicate that it was likely used on male patients, the s-shaped curve meant to imitate the curvature of the male urethra. Dilators are used to unblock the urethra due to infection, prostate swelling, or trauma. The size classification of the instrument increases with the diameter of the shaft. Both ends of this instrument are curved. On View
