DescriptionThis metal egg grading scale was manufactured by the Specialty Manufacturing Company in Saint Paul, Minnesota, around the 1920s. The company was founded by entrepreneur and engineer William Boss, who began by making and selling grass cutters from his neighbor's shed. Over time, the company grew and became a well-established tool manufacturer, supplying products to companies worldwide. The egg scale is primarily made of metal, with the base showing significant signs of rust. Its design features an oval cup at one end where the egg rests, with a front face displaying the measurements. Beneath the measurements is a panel with text that reads "ACME EGG-GRADING SCALE / PAT. JUNE 24-1924 / THE SPECIALTY MFG. CO. / ST. PAUL, MINN, U.S.A." This object is important as it highlights American innovation in the early 20th century. On View
