DescriptionItalian Burgonet helmet with the main body being one piece steel construction, with a projecting eye brim. It has a 'comb' and hollow projecting neck brim. Ear flaps hinged to sides. Roped borders, brass rosettes, and original gilding in a scrolling motif. Most likely used by Spanish colonial military during their expeditions to the Americas in which their metal armor was used to protect them from those defending themselves from Spanish plundering of land, labor, and other resources.On View
