DescriptionThis postal scale was manufactured by the Triner Scale and Manufacturing Company of Chicago, Illinois. It is the Gem Postal Scale, originally patented in 1904. The scale is made from cold-rolled steel with a raw silver finish. A paper label displays postal rates and corresponding weights, with the label beneath reading "THE SUPERIOR POSTAL SCALE." The scale shows significant signs of rust, including heavy corrosion on the needle.
