En el grabado de Roy De Forest, vemos a un perro sentado bajo una tienda de campaña improvisada, mientras su compañero humano tirita de frío fuera del refugio. De Forest a menudo creaba imágenes de sus propias historias sobre aventuras en paisajes habitados por viajeros y seres caninos. Muchas de las obras de De Forest representan su propia versión de los paisajes del oeste, inundados de color, trazos intensos y ¡cómo no!, perros. La figura humana sentada está vestida con ropa de vaquero, pero la escena nada tiene que ver con la representación típica de un vaquero en la pradera. La calidad casi onírica de la obra de De Forest desafía nuestro conocimiento y nos invita a un paisaje mágico en el que crear nuestra propia realidad.

In Roy De Forest’s print, a dog sits under a makeshift tent, while his human companion appears to be shivering outside of the shelter. De Forest often created images from his private stories about adventures through landscapes inhabited by travelers and canine creatures. Many of De Forest’s works depict his own version of western landscapes, filled with color, lively marks, and of course… dogs. The seated human figure is dressed in cowboy garb, but this scene is far from an expected depiction of a cowboy on the range. The dreamlike quality of De Forest’s work challenges what we know and invites us into a magical landscape where we create our own reality.
