DescriptionThis antique pencil sharpener is a compact, heavy-duty device made primarily of black-painted cast iron. It features a round base supported by three short legs, each slightly curved at the ends. A metal crank handle with a textured grip extends across the top, connected to the internal sharpening mechanism. A looped metal attachment on the side may have been used for securing the sharpener to a surface or attaching a collection receptacle for shavings. The design, patented by E.L. McDivitt on March 29, 1904, represents an early solution for efficiently sharpening wooden pencils. On View
