DescriptionOak rocking chair, possibly made by Civil War veteran Capt. Zenas H. Bliss, who also taught woodworking at the Albuquerque Indian School. One of 3 rocking chairs potentially made by Bliss in the collection. Object is an ornate rocking chair with stylized inlaid floral designs on the headboard. Both headboard and armrests are supported by numerous decorative vertical wooden supports. A hand-sewn red cushion protrudes from the seat, which has a bouquet design stitched into the center. The seat itself has a hole in the bottom to replace or clean the cushion.
