DescriptionPeter Shelton is best known as an artist who creates installations and sculptures out of metals (steel, iron, lead, bronze), glass, cement, water, paint and a variety of fiberglass and resin composites first used by artists in the late 1960s. His sculptures incorporate both abstracted and figurative forms along with anatomical and architectural references. While this print is two-dimensional, it references similar motifs found in Shelton's sculptural work including the central form depicted as a cocoon like shelter. The grid that forms the shape of the image is also present in his 1997 sculpture titled blackelephanthouse. On View
