DescriptionThis object consists of a diamond-based cast iron sadiron with a detachable, semicircular wooden handle. The base of the detachable handle is made of iron, and includes a nail-like button and locking mechanism to affix it or remove it from the top of the iron's body. The wooden handle has no signs of physical corrosion, but heavy dark discoloration on the bottom indicates repeated proximity to high temperatures. Handle was likely detachable so the body of the iron could be heated separately.
